Foreign trade turnover of the Smolensk oblast
with distant and neighboring foreign countries in 2005 made up 1 314.3 mln. dollars as
compared to 1231.1 mln. dollars in 2004 (increase by 6.5%). Trade turnover operations were
carried out with 85 distant and neighboring foreign countries.
Export of goods made up 847.4 mln. dollars (111.8% increase as compared to
2004). Goods were exported to 63 countries. The volume of import was equal to 166.9 mln.
dollars and increased by 95.3% as compared to 2004. Goods were imported from 82 countries.
According to the results of 2005 the ten biggest foreign trade partners of
the oblast are (in % of the total trade turnover of the oblast):
• Byelorus - 35.2%
• Belgium - 10.8%
• Israel - 10.7%
• Lithuania - 3.7%
• Ukraine - 3.3%
• Latvia - 3,1%
• Germany - 3,0%
• Switzerland - 2.9%
• Moldova - 2.5%
• Italy - 1.7%
In the structure of exported goods to the countries outside CIS, there
prevail the supplies of the following trade groups:
• Pearls, precious or semiprecious stones, precious metals 44,3%
• Fertilizers 12,2%
• Ferrous metals 3,9%
• Mineral fuel, oil and oil refining products 3,8%
• Electrical equipment and spare parts 3,0%
In the structure of imported goods the following trade groups are
represented:
• Equipment and mechanical devices, spare parts 10,3%
• Chemical produkts 6,4%
• Plastic and plastic produkts 5,7%
• Vehicles, except railroad cars and trams 4,3%
• Waste of food processing industry 2,6%
