| Jarzevo is situatedat a distance of 63 km to the North-East
of Smolensk, on the bank of the river Vop, the tributary of the Dnieper. It is situated on
the railway and motorway Moscow-Brest. Jarzevo is first mentioned in 1779. An important
role in the development of the town played the building of the railway in 1869 and the
foundation in 1873 of one of the biggest in Russia papermaking factory.
Today Jarzevo is a cozy green town with highly developed infrastructure..
